Top decluttering tips

With Spring now in full swing, it is a great time to declutter your house. Decluttering your environment has been proven to improve mental health by reducing the anxiety that clutter so often causes. To help you get started with decluttering your house, we’ve pulled together some top decluttering tips!
Use the 4 box method
Get 4 boxes and label them as rubbish, donate, keep and relocate. Go through every room in your house and place each item into one of the boxes, make sure you don’t skip items even if you think they’re insignificant. This may take a little while to do but it will help you not only decide what to do with each item but also what you really want to keep!
Go through your wardrobe
We’re all guilty of holding onto clothes that no longer fit or are no longer our style! Clear your wardrobe out by going through each item and getting rid of anything you haven’t worn in over a year (with the exception of some seasonal or sentimental items of course!). You can either donate these clothes or get some extra cash by selling them on sites such as Etsy or Depop.
Just do a 5-minute declutter
If you have an overwhelming amount of stuff and not knowing where exactly to start is putting you off, just doing 5 minutes each day is a great place to start. You can break these 5 minutes down however you prefer, for example, you could spend 5 minutes deciding on an item to keep, an item to throw away and an item to donate, or spend the 5 minutes just picking one item to throw away.
Fill a bin bag
Another great way to start decluttering is to simply fill one bin bag at a time. This can be a bin bag of things you are going to take to a charity shop and donate or a bin bag of things you’re going to throw out.
Consider self-storage
If you have things you need to keep but are taking up a lot of room in your house, why not consider self-storage? This ensures you have access to your items whenever you need them, as well as keeps them safe, clean and out of your way.
