How to organise a playroom

If you’ve got kids, especially little ones, you’ll know the feeling of your house looking like Santa’s Grotto just exploded all over it! To help you stop your home from being overrun with toys, we’ve put together some great storage ideas that are also tiny tot friendly – win win!

Use easy-to-access containers

Make sure you use easy-to-access containers for all your kid’s toys. Grab yourself a couple of open-topped bins or baskets to eliminate your kids struggling with lids. Pop the bins on the floor and it’s easy to just drop everything back in when playtime is over! Plus, there are lots of different styles out there so you can find something that matches your space if you’d like a more subtle look.

Use kid-friendly labels

Labels are a great way to keep toys organised and you can get your little ones involved in this if they’re old enough to be practicing their letters/spelling! If they’re younger, you can use picture labels instead.

Make use of doors

We’ve said it before and we’ll say it again, make use of that door space! Over-the-door hangers come in a variety of sizes and designs and make fabulous places to put toys, books and more. This will keep clutter off the floor and makes a perfect solution if you don’t have the space for extra furniture/storage boxes.

Set up a craft area

Most kids love getting creative and setting up a little craft area is the perfect way to ensure arty supplies (and paint spills!) are all contained in one area. You can get a child’s table and chairs, or a small art easel then just add some drawers, fill them with supplies and you’re all set! If you want to be extra fancy, hang some twine and attach your children’s artwork with pegs so they can display their latest masterpiece.

Get rid of stuff your children aren’t using

It can be tempting to hold onto old toys because of their sentimental value but over time these toys can really build up! If you’re not ready to get rid of things yet or need more time to sort out what you want to keep, consider using self-storage solutions to keep these items safe and your home free from clutter.
