File your paperwork

Nowadays most important documents are online but if you work in an industry where you need to have a paper trail, make sure you file it immediately. It’s too easy to let paperwork pile up on your desk which is not only difficult to work around but can also compromise sensitive information. Invest in a storage cabinet, keep it organised and destroy any documents you don’t need regularly to ensure things don’t build up.

Label everything

An obvious one but labelling things is really useful! For example, if you have supplies or paperwork that you need immediately to hand, invest in a couple of desktop baskets and label them. This ensures everything has a place, they’re easy to find and prevents clutter building up around you.

Keep cleaning supplies at your desk

If you have cleaning supplies to hand, you’re more likely to use them! Grab yourself a bottle of disinfectant (if you have a wooden desk make sure you get something that won’t leave a mark) and a soft cloth and remember to wipe down your desk every week. This could be at the start of the week or at the end of the week, don’t forget to wipe down your keyboard, phone and any other appliances you have at your desk. A fresh workspace has been proven to increase productivity as well as keep germs away!
